Schilke G1 Trumpet
I am selling a 1971 Schilke G1 trumpet. This horn is in excellent condition. It is beautiful to look at. There are two very tiny dings on the leadpipe. There is one picture that is a close up of that spot and shows the marks well. There is a spot on the bell that has a fine scratch, but it is not significant. It did not show in my pictures. Otherwise, the horn is incredible and looks like it came off the line last week although it is over 45 years old! All slides and valves work great.
No specs have been changed. This horn is just as Schilke made them in the 70's. This is the horn that predated the modern G1L. It is a piccolo trumpet with a large bell in the key of G only. It does not have a separate bell/slides for transition to F like the modern G1L. It takes a trumpet shank mouthpiece. It does not come with a case or mouthpiece.
This horn has a big sound, very full for a piccolo. I find that this design plays best in the concert keys of GM, AM, CM and DM. The modern design of the G1L is different in the length of some of the valve slides and of the bell length as well. This former design while making the 1-3 fingering in tune without slide pull makes for a low 2-3 fingering. This horn can be brought into modern specs for the G1L by the Schilke factory for $1000. That price includes the replating that the factory requires when doing the work. (The work they would do would otherwise leave scars on an otherwise beautiful instrument and Schilke will not allow Frankenstein looking work to leave their factory.)
I'm asking $1350 shipped to the Continental USA for this horn, a fair price for a new looking fully functioning antique horn.
